‘Wild Service’ by Nick Hayes

This book follows Nick Hayes’ other great titles in the ‘A Right to Roam: Call to Action’ series: The Book of Trespass and The Trespasser’s Companion.

‘Wild Service’ is a concept which argues that humanity’s loss and nature’s need are two sides of the same story. This is about a mass reconnection to the land and a commitment to its restoration, by blending science, nature and indigenous philosophy.

Wild service is about the right to be responsible, the right to connect and care.

Juneathon Day 18

Initial plan for today’s run was a 30 minute fast few miles, but the first mile was a bit of a struggle. So instead, decided to settle in and have a progression run, getting quicker until the end.

Which is exactly what I did.

4.29 miles in total.

Juneathon totals:

15 days running = 66.01 miles

2 days swimming = 1200 metres

1 day cycling = 10.26 miles

Juneathon Day 17

It was one of those busy days. The run was sandwiched between getting in from work and a Samaritans duty.

I didn’t fancy the country lanes; having to keep an ear and eye out for traffic. So instead I chose the quietest road that barely gets any traffic on it and ran up and down it a couple of times.

4.49 miles.

It was a lovely evening. Sun was out for the most part, before the clouds blew in for the last 10 minutes.

Also spotted a little frog just sat there. it wasn’t too bothered about me so I took a quick picture.

Juneathon totals:

14 days running = 61.92 miles

2 days swimming = 1200 metres

1 day cycling = 10.26 miles

Juneathon Day 15

Popped up to see friends for Friday night drinks and a Saturday parkrun: Rutland Water.

It was a near perfect morning to smash out a fast 5km.

Juneathon totals:

12 days running = 54.33 miles

2 days swimming = 1200 metres

1 day cycling = 10.26 miles

Juneathon Day 14

It was an early start today; I was on the treadmill just after 6am.

The reason for this ridiculous behaviour? Visiting friends later and just no other opportunity to do it. Dedicated.

3.1 miles listening to Grace Petrie’s latest album, ‘Build Something Better’.

Juneathon Totals:

11 days running = 51.22 miles

2 days swimming = 1200 metres

1 day cycling = 10.26 miles
