Book 2 of 2025 ðŸ“š

Apparently everyone knows this as ACOTAR, it’s the first in a very popular series. I think it is also comes under the genre of ‘high fantasy’.

Now, I don’t actually like reading ‘fantasy’ novels, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, not really for me. I’m only reading this because it was recommended by a friend at work, plus she actually brought in the physical book.

It wasn’t terrible.

The issue I have with ‘high fantasy’ is that anything can happen! You have impossibly powerful unbeatable creatures, that can be beaten; people violently and brutally killed, that can be healed and brought back to life; plus ridiculous curse type treaties that have to be adhered to.

If you like this sort of book I’d imagine you’d enjoy it. I don’t like ‘high fantasy’ but I got through it! Put that on the posters!!

Janathon…an update…

It’s come to an end.

Made it 27 days into the month, but have been cruelly cut down by a cold. So day 28, 29 and 30 were all cancelled. I’m definitely feeling better, unsure about whether I’ll get out for the final day of the month.

I’m currently sitting on 99 miles for the month. Would be nice to break the 100 miles tomorrow, but I’m also ok leaving it on 99.

We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Janathon Day 27

It was another one of those 3-milers on the treadmill in between a busy day at work and a Samaritans duty in the evening.

There have been a lot of these sort of runs recently. I’ve got a feeling tomorrow may be exactly the same because of meeting after work.

But it’s another run. Only four more days left of January.

Totals:

Runs = 26

Mileage = 99.38

Swims = 1 (600m)

Janathon Day 26

Today was the closest I have come to not running.

It was a late night last night and I wasn’t feeling 100% today.

But, I did manage to get a gentle 3-miler on the treadmill. Done.

Totals:

Runs = 25

Mileage = 96.27

Swims = 1 (600m)

Janathon Day 25

It was another busy day.

I was out the door before 8am – 4-miler around the village. didn’t really enjoy it. Legs felt very heavy, in fact not really feeling 100% today. The cold wind didn’t help. All in all it was a miserable 4 miles.

After breakfast to was to Tesco for the weekly shop. Then after a quick lunch it was a trip to Norwich Theatre Royal to see An Inspector Calls.

It was second visit for me, the first one was with the school on Thursday – I didn’t realise I was on the school trip when I booked it.

Then we were on the road to Lincolnshire for a 50th birthday party. Happy days.

Totals:

Runs = 24

Mileage = 93.14

Swims = 1 (600m)

Janathon Day 24

Got in from school, had a quick coffee, got changed and was pounding the streets before 5pm.

Now, when I run locally, I normally stick to one side of the village. Rarely do I run on the dark side. But tonight was one of those nights.

Strange things happen on the dark side. The normal rules don’t apply. Roads begin and end in different places dependent on the time and day. Houses which you think are fixed in place, move.

But I braved it.

I ran around, wasn’t entirely sure where I was or where I was heading. Strava seems to think I completed a lap. It didn’t feel like it.

4.28 miles.

Strava Intelligence Athlete had this to say:

Solid Janathon run with a personal record on ‘Down by the Marshes’ segment and a strong pace slightly faster than your 30-day average.

Totals:

Runs = 23

Mileage = 89.31

Swims = 1 (600m)
