Janathon Day 16 and just to repeat…..it was bloody cold out tonight!
Tonight I donned various stuff to try to evade the cold – it didn't work. Even after a couple of miles, I'm normally warmed up and ready to run as far as I feel, but not tonight. 3 miles into the run I was still feeling very cold so decided that enough is enough.
Tonight's mileage = 3.75
Total Janathon mileage = 68.57
I did originally want to beat last year's Janathon total of 134 miles, that would work out at an average of 4.32 miles per day. We've been running for 16 days – 16 x 4.32 – 69.12 miles. So I'm just about hanging in there.
After yesterday's failure to run due to the adverse weather conditions. Brought on by global warming, which I am solely to blame for because I leave the TV on standby, sorry everyone. I was determined to run tonight.
So I risked life and limb and took to the icy streets of Bourne – the picture maybe a slight exaggeration. Although, it was a bloody freezing evening. In fact, my fingers are still dumb so I am totally unable to write anymore.
New evidence suggests the Beast of Bourne is alive and well.
Yesterday more evidence came to light that the feared creature that roams Bourne Woods is alive and well. Recent discoveries of the creatures existence have been slowly increasing since 2010. The quiet South Lincolnshire market town was left reeling after the latest piece of evidence found by a runner Sunday morning.
More evidence
Strange footprint spotted
The latest piece of evidence, discovered at about 9am Sunday morning, is a footprint measuring about a metre in width. The amazing discovery was made by a local runner, Phil Lengthorn, 21, from Bourne.
“I was just running along with earphones in and listening to my favourite 80s disco tunes when I saw it!” Mr Lengthorn exclaimed. He went on to say that, “It [footprint] was huge! At least 4 feet across and clearly made by some sort of gigantic animal!”
Past sightings
This comes in a long line of past sightings that have terrorised the local residents. Recently there were rumours of strange genetic modification experiments going on in the vicinity, apparently the legacy of years of mutation discoveries on the Fens. A huge oversized doglike beast was recently reported that could well have something to do with this new batch of sightings.
Professor Malcolm, Department of Strange Sightings at Oxford University said, “We will looking into this latest piece of evidence very carefully. The recent cold weather may have caused this creature to look elsewhere for his food. Although due to the fact that this runner was taking part in Janathon and running every day of the month, he is clearly mad so we may not bother.”
In other news….
Due to adverse weather conditions today's Janathon run did not take place.
Today is as near as damn to one third through Janathon.
Before tonight's run I had a little read through some Janathon blogs and found that quite a few people had decided not to run for one reason or another. Now in Juneathon I took this relaxed approach to running every day of the month, but not this month. I am determined to run every day and beat the mileage I ran last time. So again, like last night, initial plan was a couple of miles, although once I got going I went for the 4ish miles that I've been doing all month.
Obviously the difference between Janathon and Juneathon is the time of year. This month, the whole idea of running in the dark is getting me down. Only two of the ten days so far have been run in daylight, the rest either pounding the dark streets of the town or donning the head torch and hitting the trails of the woods. So the run tonight started in the usual way….
A pretty uneventful run tonight, although it did feel very cold out and a bit misty. On return the weather forecast seems to be suggesting a very cold spell with possible snow and ice. Something to look forward too!
Today's mileage = 4.35
Total Janathon mileage = 44.13
So the mantra for the rest of the month, with the target to beat last Janathon's mileage, must be 'Get Better'…
