Not quite sure how we’ve got to the 71st day of the year, but here’s today’s picture:

The gym I go to has finally starting to update the machines. It’s a bit of an old school gym, lots of weights, lots of mirrors, and lots of machines that are slowly beginning to fall apart.

So it was quite a surprise when I discovered two new cross-trainers: touchscreens, internet connected and very swanky. I’m looking forward to some new treadmills, which are apparently, on the way.

It’s pretty easy to tell when it’s been an uneventful day. Today’s picture: the microwave in the staff room which contained a pot of leftover veggie chilli and rice from last night.

Although, I did also attend the gym. An hour on the treadmill.

So I had a choice of two inanimate objects. The microwave just pipped the treadmill.

Day 28 Veganuary

I was in charge of dinner tonight: vegan sausage rolls, chips and beans. These Linda McCartney sausage rolls are lovely.

Just what was needed after yet another ridiculous day at school, followed by an hour on the treadmill at the gym.

I also watched The Ultimate Triathlon on Amazon Prime – well worth a watch – follows the story of a fella who swam, cycled and ran 2000km in 12 days from Morocco to Monaco. Amazing.

It all seems very normal…

Janathon Day 26

After running every single day for the past 26 days it all starts to become a bit normal. Tonight was another visit to the gym – 4 or so miles on the treadmill.

Today's mileage = 4.28

Total Janathon mileage = 109.09

Another day. Another pile of books that need marking.

Like I said – this is the norm.

Anyone fancy a synonym?

Janathon Day 21

Today has been one of those days. A regular run-of-the-mill type day when nothing out of the ordinary happened.

A normal day.

A regular day.

An average day.

A routine day.

I went to work. I came home. I went to the gym. I came home.

At work, today has been all about the synonyms. Alternative words for sad, alternative words for angry, alternative words for scared, blah, blah, blah. And within all that some fantastic descriptions of making toast feeling a plethora of different emotions. I have some fantastic students who never fail to amaze me with their ideas and creativity.

So maybe a regular day, but one that has actually been great fun.

At the gym I did 30min of hill reps – worked hard and left very sweaty.

Today's mileage = 3.33

Total Janathon mileage = 89.98

Janathon Day 9

On Fridays we finish school early. Yay! Which is then followed by meetings. Boo!

My afternoon went something like this: A*-C, FFT, levels of progress, FSM, expected grade, exceeding progress, KS2, 4b, target grade, minimum expected grade, aspirational target grade, intervention, pupil premium, FSM ever, services, KS3, underachieving, KS4, blah, blah, blah.

I'm not sure whether or not I will actually have time to do any teaching soon. It is all starting to wear a bit thin at the moment.

So when I got in it was straight back out to head to the gym for some treadmill action…in kms…

Today's mileage = 4.20

Total Janathon mileage = 40.05

Yep…you’ve guessed it…. #janathon

Janathon Day 6

It was the gym again tonight. But things have changed. Rather than just walk straight in, or on the off chance that someone is on reception, walk straight in and flash the membership card, we have a new system. After going through the rigmarole of having photo and fingerprint taken I can now just walk straight in, or on the off chance that someone is on reception, walk straight in and scan fingerprint. Brilliant.

Tonight I managed to find a treadmill that not only worked but was also in mph. Happy days.

Today's mileage = 4.31

Total Janathon mileage = 28.40

If it wasn't enough being a member of a gym, there also seems to be the odd personal trainer available…

#juneathon day 7…..the day the treadmill couldn’t keep up with me…

This morning, feeling enthused and energetic, I hit the gym. Little did I know that today would go down in history……

The plan was to do 40mins on the treadmill, increasing speed every 5mins, starting off pretty easy and building up to a fast pace. Well that was the plan….

Started at a pretty easy speed – '10' whatever that means – plus I was on a treadmill that was set at kms. Every 5mins I increased speed and incline so that by 30mins into the run I was at speed '15', which felt quite fast. It which point the treadmill, amazed by my athleticism, decided he couldn't keep up with me and up came the message:

“Could not attain target speed”

Job done! I will now be forever known as the treadminator! Here is said treadmill just before it belched smoke and exploded.

Day 7 mileage = 4.44 (after a nifty bit of converting)

Total Juneathon mileage = 32.50

In other news…..the boy and I started on the Panini World Cup Sticker Album…..
