#30 to the #decembeer party is from Wells Brewers….Banana Bread Beer…
Now if you concentrate really hard you can taste a subtle banana taste, and actually as gross as that sounds, the beer is quite nice.
Just for general wonderings…
A Janathon blog post quickly followed by a #decembeer blog post….
Today we have Bishops Finger….
Apparently this beer has the smell of roast, toffee and berries….still not getting it.
But quite a tasty beer: malty and rich.
With Janathon fast approaching the decision is actually not whether to run or not, I will be taking part, but more like how far. Last January I entered Janathon and ran every day, completing a total of 133 miles in the month. Then Juneathon came along and I began with the idea that I would be able to beat January’s total, this didn’t happen, for various different reasons I took a more relaxed approach as the month continued (finishing with 114 miles under the belt).
So what to do this time round? As I sit writing this blog I have just about seen off a bit of a cold that has lasted over Christmas, stopped me running, and more importantly, seriously affected #decembeer. So I’m eager to get back to the running and blow away the cobwebs.
In my head at the moment I want to beat the 133 miles clocked up last Janathon, but am also well aware of the busy start to the school term that awaits (exam prep, marking and extra sessions). So the plan is to begin with the 4.5ish miles a day that are required and see how we go.
Also, with a new year brings new plans. I was browsing through Runner’s World magazine in search of some races for the year, still considering whether or not to run my second marathon this year, I came across this, Rat Race Dirty Weekend…..
After last year’s attempt at the Zombie Evacuation Race as part of ‘Dead Men Running’ this seemed perfect for 2013. I just hope the rest of the guys agree!
Once the #decembeer train is going, it's best to just hold on for the ride. Next up a “post modern classic” from BrewDog, Punk IPA….
Quite a distinct aroma – smells very fruity. As this is a 'punk' beer and is “uncompromising, bold and irreverent” wasn't quite sure what to expect. So I just drunk it and thought of The Clash….
This Christmas there has been a distinct lack of Christmas cheer about….
Having reached #26 of #decembeer and welcoming Nephew Stanley into the world I somehow managed to become infected with some superbug causing me to be laid low for the past five days. Not a beer, wine, shot or cocktail has touched my lips since then and yet I still feel rough. So today I have decided that it is in fact a LACK of beer that has caused this recent illness. So I'm back on the #decembeer train!
The chosen beer that is going to get me back on track is Fursty Ferret (#27)…
A tasty beer this, light golden in colour with a hoppy aroma and good refreshing taste. Named because rumour had it that inquisitive ferrets would sneak to the back door of the local inn and sneakily sample the local brew. Although I'd be slightly concerned for my sanity if I suggested I had seen a crowd of ferrets supping on pints of beer!
Today we have a reason to drink beer! My little sister and her husband have a new addition to the family – a lovely little boy. No names as yet, but Star, Donkey, Jesus and Rudolph are all still in the running!
So we welcome the little lad into the world with the help of a bottle of 'Bitter & Twisted', #26 of #decembeer…..
It was a pretty poxy day today: raining, busy everywhere and raining. I did initially choose this beer because it summed up the character of the old bag nasty piece of work woman in the cafe I went in for breakfast this morning.
But in the end the day was very good!
