Just for general wonderings…

Beans On Toast at The Rescue Rooms in Nottingham.
Never disappoints.

Tomorrow it is my turn in ‘cakey bakey’ – so we have Blueberry Banana Oat Squares. Vegan of course.
It’s been ok.
Not too many dramas.

I know it’s still early days, but I’ve not been hankering after bacon or cheese, in fact, I’ll go as far to say it has been very successful.
The week after new year was always going to be fine. The whole novelty of doing the vegan thing was always going to be enough to get through the first week. The real test was always going to be the second week. The return to work. The avoiding the canteen for breakfast rolls in the morning. The avoiding the canteen for all those animal products at lunchtime. But the test has been passed, the avoiding has been done.
We’ve been cooking most of the stuff from scratch, but at the weekend we popped into a few shops to get some more convenient food. Tonight’s offering: Iceland ‘No Porkies Sausages’, mash and beans. Not amazingly keen. The texture was a bit claggy and the flavour not all that. Although, they were eatable.

Some of the stuff we’ve been tucking into over the last 14 days:
Here’s to another successful couple of weeks. But so far, I’m feeling good about the whole vegan thing.

Day 14 RED January
After work I headed off to Rutland Water for a little run – 3 or so miles. I love running here after work – I chance for a bit of time to myself to clear the head – that’s the purpose of this whole RED January thing – help with mental health. Happy days.
Tonight’s run had to be cut short, I had originally planned to do a few more miles, but having forgotten my head torch I didn’t fancy running too late. I probably would have fallen in the reservoir and drowned. Not good for my mental health.
It’s been a pretty good start to January – managed to be active every day of the month so far.
RED January stats:

Day 11 RED January
It felt like a very long day today; I didn’t feel like going for a run. But I did.
The original plan was to head to the gym, however once I putting my trainers on I decided just to get out on the streets. It was a good decision. I felt so much better when I got in.
Today was the perfect advert for RED January.

Day 8 RED January
An hour shooting hoops at the end of the day.
