It’s been ok.
Not too many dramas.
I know it’s still early days, but I’ve not been hankering after bacon or cheese, in fact, I’ll go as far to say it has been very successful.
The week after new year was always going to be fine. The whole novelty of doing the vegan thing was always going to be enough to get through the first week. The real test was always going to be the second week. The return to work. The avoiding the canteen for breakfast rolls in the morning. The avoiding the canteen for all those animal products at lunchtime. But the test has been passed, the avoiding has been done.
We’ve been cooking most of the stuff from scratch, but at the weekend we popped into a few shops to get some more convenient food. Tonight’s offering: Iceland ‘No Porkies Sausages’, mash and beans. Not amazingly keen. The texture was a bit claggy and the flavour not all that. Although, they were eatable.
Some of the stuff we’ve been tucking into over the last 14 days:
- Carrot and parsnip soup
- Leek and potato pie
- Leek and potato soup
- Potsticker noodles
- Vegetable stew and dumplings
- Vegetable chilli
- Sausoyges and mash
Here’s to another successful couple of weeks. But so far, I’m feeling good about the whole vegan thing.
