#juneathon Day 20

Yesterday, day 19, was another rest day. You’ve probably worked out by now that I’m taking a rather more relaxed approach to Juneathon this time round. Having said that, it was bloody scorchio yesterday, and anyone wanting to run in that heat would have been totally off their rocker.

That’s yesterday’s excuses logged. As for today…

I extended Sunday’s run route by a mile or so tonight. It’s quite a nice little run, I’m attempting to just increase my mileage slightly. Out are the consistent daily 3-milers, to be replaced by some longer runs with some rest days thrown in.

It was a lovely evening.

Interesting route.

Even if you had to watch your step – the ground is pretty dry – some nice looking ankle breaking mahoosive cracks to negotiate.

It was pretty warm again today, no where as hot as yesterday, but warm all the same. So the idea of getting out for a run on the trails the minute I walked in the door from work caused a rather negative response from Helen.

Enough said.

Total Juneathon mileage = 78.1

#juneathon Day 18

Today was hot. Almost too hot to go for a run. It was also one of those busy Sundays, which meant that it wasn’t until teatime that any run was possible. Eventually at 6pm, I was out clocking up the miles. Very hot miles.

3.7 miles.

I completed a sort of ‘lap’ of my end of town. It takes in a few busy roads, a partially completed new estate, some trails, across fields and through woods.

It was probably at about this point…

…that some sort of massive flying thing flew into my mouth (it was hot, my mouth was wide open gasping for air) and was promptly swallowed. Gross? Yes.

Insects swallowed = 1

Total Juneathon mileage = 73.1

#juneathon Day 17

The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noted that I didn’t blog yesterday: Day 16.

Now if you read Day 15’s post you might be mistaken for thinking that I was in the middle of a three day drinking binge. I wasn’t.

Day 16 was merely a blip if you will, an obstacle in the way, or to put it another way a ‘rest’ day. Scandolous I know, but a ‘rest’ day all the same.

And so to Day 17…

I was up bright and early to venture to Leicester. For two reasons. Firstly, my normal haunt on a Saturday morning is Rutland Water Parkrun, but due to another event on, this morning’s Parkrun was cancelled. So, Leicester Victoria Parkrun and a meet up with Amy and Josh was the plan.

It was very hot.

Before.

After.

Then off to DMU to see Amy’s final year degree show. The girl did good.

Followed by the obligatory, if somewhat late, Wetherspoon’s breakfast and an afternoon in the garden accompanied by a few Coronas.

All in all a good day.

Total Juneathon mileage = 69.4

#juneathon Day 13

Today felt a lot better than yesterday; 3.5 miles at the woods with the dog. I even managed to run up a few hills tonight.

The plan tomorrow is to up the pace a bit. I saw on Strava that they are encouraging people to do a fast one mile. Quite fancy getting involved with that, so I’m going to spend the next week or so picking up the pace to have a go at a fast mile. I’m not entirely sure how fast I can run a mile, I’m think a sub 6 min should be on the cards.

Total Juneathon mileage = 61.9
