Juneathon Day 11

Very early run, before 6am, wasn’t really feeling it – but it got done!!

When the alarm went off at 5.40am there were plenty of excuses running through my head. But sometimes you just have to put aside all the excuses and power through. There’s an Instagram influencer quote somewhere there – but I really can’t be bother to look for it.

Today’s theme: water.

Juneathon Totals:

Running = 35.6 miles

Juneathon Day 10

It’s Thursday. Thursday is a gym day – so no run again today.

Instead it was a 45 min workout. The session was pretty hard in the afternoon heat and required the use of virtually every single piece of equipment.

The session included burpees, squats, rowing, millions of weights, a bit of treadmill and anything and everything else. There was sweat.

Juneathon Totals:

Running = 32.5

Gym Sessions = 2

Book 13 of 2021

Crater Lake by Jennifer Killick

I like reading teenager fiction. Although this is probably aimed at a slightly younger audience: 11-13 year olds. A great recommendation for those reluctant readers. It has lots going on: adventure, action, aliens, horror and humour.

It only got 3 stars because – as good as it is for an 11-year-old – it was slightly too young for me.

Juneathon Day 8

First week back at school after the half-term break, the school has a Fitness Suite, which means back to the Tuesday and Thursday gym workouts.

It was a beast of a session at the end of the day today!

It went something like this:

  • 6 x Burpees
  • 10 x Shoulder Press
  • 10 x Goblet Squat
  • 6 x Burpees
  • 10 x Bench Press
  • 20 x Step-ups
  • 6 x Burpees
  • 12 x Bent-Over Row
  • 10 x Sit-Ups
  • 6 x Burpees
  • Farmer’s Walk
  • Bear Crawl

With a two minute rest at the end and then repeated another three times.

There was sweat. Lots of it.

Juneathon Totals:

Running = 27.5 miles

Gym Sessions = 1

Juneathon Day 7

It was an early run today; I was out the door before 6am.

Now, I love running in the morning – it’s probably my preferred time to get out – but before 6am is not particularly enjoyable. It was a struggle right from the start. It wasn’t until the second mile that I felt a bit more comfortable.

Also bagged another Strava badge…

This time I get 30% off some ridiculously overpriced running gear!

Week 1 done: 7 runs – 27.5 miles.
