Busy. Crazy. Busy. #janathon

Janathon Day 12

Knowing that today was going to be a busy day, teaching all day, quick dinner and then back out again, I decided to be brave: early morning run.

I really struggled – how people do it on a regular basis is above me. I've heard stories of how it refreshes you, energises you and prepares you for the day. It didn't do that for me. It had the opposite effect: I felt knackered all day.

Although having said that it was good to get it done and dusted. The twelfth day of Janathon….cue a song. Not tonight – no time.

A quick couple of miles in the dark:

Today's mileage: 2.49

Total Janathon mileage = 53.63

A culinary masterpiece, not mine obviously, Speedy Chicken Jambalaya…

Looks pretty much like the picture!

Faster than a speeding bicycle…. #janathon

Janathon Day 11

Today’s early morning run was, once again, at the woods. Plenty of people about this morning, including some very slow bike riders, that I actually ran past. Conjuring up images of Superman. How does the phrase go?

‘Faster than a speeding bicycle. More powerful than a gust of wind.

Able to leap over muddy puddles in a single bound’

It was very muddy, at times it was rather difficult to stay upright. Just recently I am suffering with a bit of an achy back after doing some trail running, I think I need to strengthen the core!?! Perhaps I should be hitting the weights at the gym? That sounds very Superman. Not.

I was accompanied on this morning’s run by Michael Rosenberg, AKA Passenger, and very enjoyable it was too.

Today’s mileage = 6.85

Total Janathon mileage = 51.14

In the words of Alfred Tennyson:

“Into the jaws of death,

Into the mouth of hell”

Help me!

Janathon Day 10

Janathon Day 10

Following on from yesterday's blog post about data, I thought I'd give you some more:

  • 32.25% of Janathon in complete
  • Average daily mileage of 4.429
  • I am currently exceeding progress
  • I am predicted to complete 137 miles
  • Intervention is not required
Although at one point today I thought I would never walk again. I had, embedded in my foot, the biggest shard of glass the world has ever seen*.

After a very long operation to remove said fragment of evil, during which I experienced more pain than a woman during childbirth, I was finally able to fit in today's run. It was round the woods in the dark with the dog. I had my trusty head torch on, although that didn't help me spot the huge twisted mass of branches that almost caused me and the dog to end up in a ditch.

Today's mileage = 4.24

Total Janathon mileage = 44.29

Today's photo, and evidence of the rock and roll lifestyle I live, tumble dryer shopping.

* I would have taken a picture of the offending piece of glass but it was too big and there was far too much blood.

Bloody data!! #janathon #project365

Janathon Day 9

On Fridays we finish school early. Yay! Which is then followed by meetings. Boo!

My afternoon went something like this: A*-C, FFT, levels of progress, FSM, expected grade, exceeding progress, KS2, 4b, target grade, minimum expected grade, aspirational target grade, intervention, pupil premium, FSM ever, services, KS3, underachieving, KS4, blah, blah, blah.

I'm not sure whether or not I will actually have time to do any teaching soon. It is all starting to wear a bit thin at the moment.

So when I got in it was straight back out to head to the gym for some treadmill action…in kms…

Today's mileage = 4.20

Total Janathon mileage = 40.05

School run #janathon

Janathon Day 8

I have been taking my running kit to school all week with the idea that I could complete the day's run after school – today it finally happened. So, as soon as the bell had gone, bus duty was completed and a bit of data inputting was done I was changed and heading for the school field.

We have two fields at school: the field and the back field. Tonight I discovered that one big lap, including both fields equates to about a mile. So four big laps: 4.2 miles. Cushty.

Tonight's mileage = 4.20

Total Janathon mileage = 35.89
