#juneathon vs World Cup

When I signed up for Juneathon the World Cup seemed a million miles away. Now it's here. I think this is going to be the biggest obstacle in completing Juneathon.

There was only the one game tonight so I was able to get out for run as soon as I got in from work. I'm not sure how easy this will be in the coming weeks when you get various games throughout the evening.

It was just under 4 miles around the local fields; it was also really hot. So shower, dinner and I've pretty much managed to be ready for the opening game – although the planning for tomorrow's lessons has gone out the window!

Anthems playing…..gotta go!

Day 12 mileage = 3.70

Total Juneathon mileage = 54.39

#juneathon day 11

On Wednesday afternoons my school offer, what has been termed, 'electives'. It is a chance for teachers to offer various activities, outside of the curriculum, to enrich students. I offer 'running club'. Which I am also offering up as today's Juneathon activity. Given the name of the elective, 'running club', I find it quite amazing that some students still seem surprised when they are asked to run.

On a lovely sunny afternoon like today you could be mistaken into thinking that you are watching 'sunbathing club'. Despite this we did complete some 'running'. The Garmin logged a total of 2.75 miles which included a warmup, various bits of running, cool down and a couple of games of bulldog. Sorted.

Day 11 mileage = 2.75

Total Juneathon mileage = 50.69

One third through…..

Juneathon Day 10

Tonight's run was a club training night – we were on the track – which usually means a fast hard working session. It was exactly that:

  • Warm up
  • 6 x 800m fast with 2min recovery in between
  • Cooldown

So 33% of Juneathon in complete – 20 days left – which sounds like a lot of running left to do.

Day 10 mileage = 5.25

Total Juneathon mileage = 47.94

#juneathon day 9

Nineth day in a row and all is going good. With club training tomorrow I'd decided that tonight was going to be a lovely slow run round the woods with the dog – that is exactly what it was. It was a warm evening; would loved to have followed the dog into the pond.

In other news, the nice people at Smugglers Records sent me this….

So have a look at this, you decide….

Day 9 mileage = 3.70

Total Juneathon mileage = 42.69

#juneathon day 7…..the day the treadmill couldn’t keep up with me…

This morning, feeling enthused and energetic, I hit the gym. Little did I know that today would go down in history……

The plan was to do 40mins on the treadmill, increasing speed every 5mins, starting off pretty easy and building up to a fast pace. Well that was the plan….

Started at a pretty easy speed – '10' whatever that means – plus I was on a treadmill that was set at kms. Every 5mins I increased speed and incline so that by 30mins into the run I was at speed '15', which felt quite fast. It which point the treadmill, amazed by my athleticism, decided he couldn't keep up with me and up came the message:

“Could not attain target speed”

Job done! I will now be forever known as the treadminator! Here is said treadmill just before it belched smoke and exploded.

Day 7 mileage = 4.44 (after a nifty bit of converting)

Total Juneathon mileage = 32.50

In other news…..the boy and I started on the Panini World Cup Sticker Album…..
